- It was our turn to usher at church on Sunday, which meant having to wake up extra early. I'm always a little anxious when we have to usher, for fear that we'd get stuck in traffic and get to church after service has already started, or that the church bulletins aren't ready to be handed out by the time people start roaming into the sanctuary (as that's happened to me on several occasions).
- Had to make an announcement in front of the congregation at my church yesterday. I'm part of the English Evangelism Committee, and had to give an overview of all the events we have planned for 2008. I do not like public speaking. I'm just no good at it. While I know what I have to say and have it all laid out in my head, the words that come out of my mouth never mirror what I have in mind and often end up sounding jumbled and incoherent. My voice also shakes, and I have a tendency to speak a mile a minute when I get nervous, as was demonstrated yesterday.
- Hoping that everything would come together for SKC's bridal shower on Sunday. The responsibilities were split among a few people, and we never had a chance to come together to confirm everything, so there were a few unknowns that we weren't sure about. The guest list was up to 36 including a few maybe's, and I had just ordered 36 favors, so was afraid there wouldn't be enough. Turns out the maybe's didn't show, and there were some cancellations, so we ended up with a lot of extras. I was also worried that there wouldn't be enough food and drinks for everyone. I called up SW's dad on Friday to order a platter of noodles from his restaurant. Late Saturday afternoon, I got a call from SW, and she said that her father just called her, and told her that I never showed up to pick up the noodles. Ack!! The noodles were for Sunday, not Saturday, I told her. She said that she'd call him back to let him know. I felt so bad about the mistake.
- Had to find shoes for the wedding. Normally, shopping would have been an enjoyable pastime to spend a Saturday afternoon. However, I was under pressure to get the shoes by Sunday in order to try it on with the bridesmaid dress so that my mom (or M's mom, rather) can hem the bottom. There aren't too many weekends left before SKC's wedding, and it doesn't help that I am only in NY once a week. Luckily, I was able to find something at TJ Maxx, which is a rarity for me. The shoes are a half size too big, but I can live with that, especially after spending three hours at Macy's and coming out empty-handed.
- Found out that my neighbor's wife is in the hospital with a rapid heartbeat. This is the second time in the past few months that she's being hospitalized. Pray that the doctors are able to get her heartbeat back to normal and for her speedy recovery. They are such a sweet and lovely couple. M and I are really lucky to have them as neighbors.
Kudos to M for being such a great trooper! We couldn't have gotten through some of the stuff for the shower if it weren't for him. Not only was he there for moral support, he went shopping with me for food and shoes on Saturday, helped me prepare the tea sandwiches for the shower, played chauffeur for us on Sunday to pick up the rest of the food and cake, dropped us off, carried things for us, and waited for me 3+ hours, part of it spent in the car sleeping. You see why I love this guy so much?!

sorry to hear about the rest of your sunday! :( much stress indeed! well, i hope some of these worries can leave your heart now that most of the events of the day has passed. you've made it through in one piece, and with the support of a wonderful man! well, i think you did a great job w/ the shower and i think you have pretty good speaking skills so your public speaking fears are probably not as bad as you think (ask mike what he thought!) i hope your neighbor's wife will be back home soon, 100% better. go to bed early tonight and get some rest!
